School Games

School Sports

Chorley SSP is contracted to deliver the School Games and receives funding for the network of Schools in Chorley to employ a School Games Organiser (SGO) for 3 days per week to deliver three distinct levels of competition.

  •  Level 1 > Intra-School Competition
  •  Level 2 > Local Inter-School Competition
  •  Level 3 > County Final

The School Games is a programme designed to keep competitive sport at the heart of schools and provide more young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best.

The programme is funded by Sport England, a government led programme designed to deliver competitive school sport to all young people. Chorley SSP delivers above and beyond the minimum School Games national programme and Sport England.

With the School Games funding we work locally to help schools;

  • Participate in School Games Competition.
  • Work with Lancashire SGO’s and the Organising Committee to develop appropriate and progressive competitive opportunities.
  • Ensure that all competitions and festivals align with national governing body formats.
  • Develop a cultural component to the Games.
  • Develop a workforce to deliver the Games.
  • Develop Change 4 Life Clubs.
