Work Experience

Career Development

We welcome work experience students year-round, with the exception of the first week back at school, the week before Christmas and the final week of the academic year. Due to high demand, we recommend applying early, as we have limited spaces available.

What you need to do

To apply for a work experience placement, please fill out the application form. Once we receive your application, we’ll review it and reach out to schedule an informal interview to further discuss opportunities. We look forward to hearing from you.

What to expect

If you secure a placement with us, you’ll have the opportunity to work across all areas of our organisation. This will involve working with young people and visiting schools. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting and observing Chorley SSP staff during PE lessons and school sports clubs.
  • Supporting staff at competitions and events, including setup, officiating, and recording results.
  • Learning roadside and cycle proficiency with the Bikeability team.
  • Shadowing staff as they deliver various projects related to leadership, health, and fitness.

What we expect

We’re seeking students who are passionate about PE and Sport. Ideally, you’ll have prior experience working or volunteering in schools or sports clubs. The following skills are essential:

  • Demonstrating good levels of confidence and effective communication skills.
  • Very good timekeeping and organisational abilities.
  • Show dedication and enthusiasm for the role.
  • Maintain a smart, presentable appearance and have a positive, helpful attitude.

Show Bio

As a seasoned PE teacher my goal is to boost children’s physical and mental wellbeing through engaging PE lessons and events. I take great pleasure in aiding children to reach their potential and bolster their confidence. A netball fan, I still actively participate in the sport and take pride in co-founding the Chorley Inferno Netball Club. Above all, I treasure the moments spent with my family and friends.
