Traditional Games Festival 🤸‍♀️

Get ready for a day of classic fun at the Traditional Games Festival! This event is a celebration of timeless games that will get everyone moving and smiling. Our mission is to boost health and well-being by making physical activity a joyful and memorable experience for every child. This is a fantastic chance for pupils to try something new, build teamwork, and make great memories. Let’s get active the old-fashioned way! ✨

Objective: To increase confidence, engagement, and physical activity levels among pupils who are less active or less engaged in PE, promoting overall health and well-being.

Intent: To provide a positive and inclusive sporting experience that helps children achieve their 60 active minutes for the day.

Target Audience: Each school is invited to nominate a mixed-gender team of ten children from Year 2, who are less active or less engaged in physical education.

Please select pupils who:

  • Have not previously represented the school in sport.
  • Are not currently working at the expected level in PE.
  • Are capable of working in a team.
  • Will represent the school in a mature and respectful manner.
  • Are willing to try new activities and learn.

Event Format:

  • Pupils will take part in a series of different traditional games and skill-building activities.
  • The event will be a carousel of fun, inclusive games that may include classics like tag, skipping, or tug-of-war.
  • All equipment will be provided.

Logistics:

  • Pupils should arrive in school PE kit and trainers.
  • Schools are responsible for their own transport and supervision.
  • For drop-off and pick-up, please use the designated car park.
  • Water only – no energy drinks or juice.
