Kurling Comp KS3 🥌
Get ready to slide into fun and competition at the Kurling comp! 🥌 This event is all about building social skills and a sense of belonging. This is a chance to try a new sport, connect with others, and shine! It’s not just a game; it’s an opportunity to build confidence in a competitive, supportive environment. Come join us and find your team spirit! ✨
Objective: To increase confidence, engagement, and physical activity levels among pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) who are less active or less engaged in PE. 💪😊
Intent: Promote success and achievement
Target Audience: Each school is invited to nominate mixed-gender, teams of 6 pupils from Key Stage 3 who have SEND.
Please select pupils who:
- Are not currently working at the expected level in PE. 📈
- Are capable of working in a group. 🤝
- Will represent the school in a mature and respectful manner. 🎓
- Are willing to try new activities and learn. 🤔💡
Event Format:
- Matches take place indoor roughly half the length of a badminton court using stones to aim at a target mat at the far end.
- Maximum of 4 active players per team compete on the court during a live match.
- Players alternate sliding their stones from behind the line using hands, ramps, or assistive pushers.
- Teams with the stone closest to the center wins that end, scoring 1 point for every stone nearer to the target center than their opponent’s best stone.
- All equipment will be provided.
Logistics:
- The event will take place at St Michaels CE High School. 🗺️
- Pupils should arrive in comfortable clothing and trainers. 👟👕
- Schools are responsible for their own transport and supervision. 🚌
- Please report to the school reception to sign in.
Key Outcomes:
- Improved social skills and connections, fostering a sense of belonging and teamwork. 🤝
- Increased confidence and engagement in physical activity. 🌟
- An enjoyable and memorable sporting experience for all participants. 🎉😃

I deliver Bikeability training and after-school clubs and locally I spearhead the national initiative to ensure equal opportunities for girls in football and oversee our holiday camps.
