Chorley School Sports Partnership CIC are recruiting now for Cycling Instructors to deliver fun, dynamic cycle training and activities to children and adults across the Chorley area.
Chorley SSP is the approved provider of Bikeability training for schools across Chorley Borough, working on behalf of Lancashire Council Road Safety Unit, Bikeability Trust and the Department For Transport.
Our core work is Bikeability Level 1 & 2, which is delivered in Primary Schools in years 5 and 6. We offer many other modules and projects in addition to this, including Bikeability Balance, Learn to Ride, Transition, Family, and Level 3; guided bike rides for school groups and families; adult training from Learn to Ride to “Confident Commuter”. While most of our trainees are of Primary School age, we genuinely do work with people from 3 to 93 so there is plenty of variety in the working week.
You will be dynamic, self-motivated and enthusiastic, with a passion for enabling others to lead an active lifestyle. You must be a competent, regular cyclist, with your own roadworthy bike that you can use when delivering training. The working week is flexible, with some evening and weekend delivery. Generally, rotas are planned several weeks in advance, allowing employees to plan their personal lives or other employment around the work diary. Cancellations and amendments can happen at any time, however the relationships that we have with our clients help to minimise these.
Subject to qualifications and experience, there may be opportunities for successful candidates to get involved with other areas within Chorley SSP, such as tournaments and festivals, sports coaching, facilities management.
At this time we are recruiting for qualified freelance instructors only. There may be the opportunity in future for a successful freelance employee to become PAYE should they desire to do so.
If you have recently left full time education, and are a regular, confident cyclist, with an interest in a career in this area, then please get in touch as we may consider a trainee appointment.
