Yesterday (27/11/14) the Y5/6 football final was held at Holy Cross High School in a bid to find the top Chorley primary school. In attendence were Lancaster Lane, Adlington St Paul's, Christ Church Charnock Richard, St Laurence, Anderton St Jospeh's, Whittle-Le-Woods, Balshaw Lane, Chorley St Gregory's who had progressed from the earlier qualifiers. The teams competed in two pools of four. After 3 hard games, the top two from each group progressed to the semi-finals. The winners of pool A, St Laurence, faced pool B runners up Balshaw Lance. Whilst in the other semi-final, Pool B winners, Christ Church Charnock Richard, faced pool A runners up Lancaster Lane. Bothgames were really close, with St Laurence narrowly beating Balshaw Lane and Christ Church scoring a last minute goal to defeat Lancaster Lane. The final was another close game and a brilliant team goal saw St Laurence secure a narrow 1-0 win over Christ Church Charnock Richard.
The tournament was played in a great spirit and the football was of a good standard. We are now looking forward to getting into our central venue leagues!
