Start of the Sportshall Athletics Season

Thursday 12th November saw the start of the noisy Sportshall Athletics season at Holy Cross Catholic High School.  It was the first of 8 heats (4 heats for Y3/4 and 4 heats for Y5/6)

Anderton St Joseph's, St Gregory's, Trinity St Michael's, St Chad's, Anderton Primary, Heskin Pemberton and Bretherton took part in what was a hotly contested competition.  

The competitors took part in a range of field events inlcuding standing long jump, 5 strides, vertical jump, chest push, speed bounce and javelin. The track events included over under relay, obstacle relay and a range of sprint relays.

The eventual winners of heat 1 were Anderton St Joseph's.  But Sportshall Athletics is all based on times/scores, so the highest scoring 12 schools across the 4 heats for each age group, will progress to the finals later on this year!

A big thanks to all the competitors who all received a certificate for their participation.
