Running around Astley Park again!

Following on from Saturday's successful Cross Country Competition, Wednesday evening saw many Chorley primary school pupils return to Astley Park for the Orienteering Championships. Almost 200 children from 17 schools were blessed with a fine evening as they navigated their way in mixed pairs around the 8 control points dotted throughout the park.

Most competitors were participating in their first event of this kind, making some of the performances all the more impressive.

The team from St Laurence's (pictured) took overall honours, with Brinscall St John's finishing as runners up, and Charnock Richard completing the podium in 3rd.

"Team to watch" for next year will be Buckshaw, who finished in a fine 6th place with a team made up entirely of Year 5 pupils as Year 6 were away on a residential trip.

Below you should be able to check out the full results table.
